That's a very intresting question. This implementation of the arithmetic is not tailored for all the arithmetic. But, by controlling the amount of shift bits we can modify the same ISA to take into account the J & I type instructions.

There is no sign flag in this CPU and no special logic to deal with the arithmetic. But, this can be easily integrated into the design.

In my next article I will try to include all of these points into my design.
